And I believe that marketing becomes enjoyable for everyone when brands put people first.
After 5 years of running my business, I realized I had let a lot of stale information clutter my brain and hold me back. I wanted to move on from the marketing status quo.
I decided to reimagine the way I market & grow my business. I ditched the constant opt-in freebies, launches based around urgency, and shouting into a void on social media. Cozy marketing was born.
There are no silver bullets in entrepreneurship, but by creating a brand you (and your audience) can’t wait to show up for, you dramatically increase your chances of success.
Let me teach you how to build a world that invites people in & makes them feel at home.
This is a story about how I forgot the most important part of my daughter’s birthday party.
She just turned 2 (I’m not fine, btw) and we had her birthday party last weekend. The theme? YELLOW 💛🌼🌞
She is obsessed with yellow and everything that is yellow. Suns, flowers, pineapples, stars, but ESPECIALLY ducks. That girl absolutely lives for ducks.
That’s why my mistake was so tragic.
The morning of the party, while I was putting on my yellow shirt and earrings, I got a text from my mom
I FORGOT THE DUCKS.
In my planning, excitement, and omg-i’m-juggling-everything-right-now brain, I forgot to zoom out and take a big picture look at what I was doing.
I totally forgot to make the main thing the main thing.
And this is my lesson for you today, friend.
As entrepreneurs, we often suffer from planning, excitement, and omg-i’m-juggling-everything-right-now brain. It’s so easy to forget what the main thing is, and get distracted by all the stuff we have on our to-do list. We move fast by default. But the truth is that our best thinking can only happen when we slow down. We have to zoom out and take a big picture look at where our effort is going.
Growing a business requires focus & awareness. The “quick win” stories we hear are just distractions from what really matters. (Those wins probably weren’t even quick, btw 😅). We want sustainable, long-term growth. We want to build a recognizable brand and be seen as a leader in our industry.
What is your “main thing” in business? What are you getting distracted by right now that is making you lose sight of your main thing? How can you re-gain focus and re-calibrate your effort?
I’ll go first! This year, I’m leaning into Pinterest, blogging, and my email list (that’s you!). My MAIN THING is expanding my brand’s social presence and widening my net.
No distractions 🫡 (Instagram, I’m looking at you. Still love you)
Pulling for you, as always, Addy
P.S. In order to focus on your main thing you’re definitely going to need a gorgeous website to capture those new leads & establish yourself as an expert. You can shop my Showit website templates here ❤️🔥
P.P.S. my mom totally saved the day with this duck bathtub/drink cooler thing from Target. And I got a huge bag of rubber ducks at the party store. Mom win!
