As a woman of faith, you want to grow a business that glorifies God and serves people well. One you can look back on with pride, that reaches the people He has for you to serve, and that doesn't require you to leave your faith at the door to make it work.

As Christians, we have a duty to walk differently than others in our field. Not all of us are in ministry, but that doesn't mean we get a pass to separate our work from our faith.

Our work is the container through which we participate with God in building His kingdom, and that means it should look different. If you have a business, it shouldn't look like the businesses around you that aren't rooted in Christ.

Your business should be set apart.

So what does that actually look like if you're not preaching the gospel to your audience every day? It means the way you operate, the methods of growth and marketing you choose, the posture you hold toward your clients — it should all be distinctly different from the worldly businesses we're surrounded by.

Much of the business advice we see has been written by the world, for the world. Created for selfish gain, rooted in self-promotion, optimized for the transaction.

But we're called to do all things for the glory of God, not the glory of self. We're called to humbly put others above ourselves, looking to the interests of the people we serve rather than our own.

The marketing strategy I've found to be both effective and aligned with biblical principles is worldbuilding.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Worldbuilding takes that seriously, because it only works if you're genuinely focused on serving people well.

If we're prioritizing selfish ambition, worldbuilding doesn't work. It forces us into a posture of service and relationship so we can allow the Lord to build the house.

Worldbuilding involves connecting your brand to your values, goals, and worldview by answering the question "what is a life well-lived, according to people like us?" When you answer that question, you plant a flag in the ground that you and your audience can rally around together.

The result is a gravitational pull that draws the right people into your world, not because you convinced them, but because what you've built reflects something they recognize and believe in.

We no longer feel like we have to pressure people into buying because we've connected with them about something more meaningful and long-term than a transaction.

In order to live in your calling and reach the people God has for you to serve, you have to grow and market yourself. There is a way to do it that allows you to walk in the path of righteousness, and that's exactly what this 7-day email series is about.
